Bloggers, You Are in Big Trouble, My Friend

Not a day goes by in my lonely and beautiful country without someone getting into trouble out of nowhere, my friend. At an unexpected time, your head may ache regarding various issues about your past in connection with some laws.
Why?
- Maybe your style isn’t good enough.
- Maybe someone wants to fill their spare time.
- Maybe you really are a rascal.
My hair stood on end after the post here published by Webrazzi. Let me explain better what I mean with a short quote.
…you share news about their agenda, and you comment as you feel. You update your content in daily, weekly, monthly periods. We have news for you: You may now also be within the scope of the Press Law….
The impact of the new additions made to the Press Law on us bloggers can be very significant. Because according to the new law, news sites have been included in the scope of the Press Law, and news sites are defined as follows: “A periodical publication that presents written, visual, or audio content in the form of news or comments on the internet environment”.
This definition is so wide and has no limits that its applicability in the nearly infinite internet world is already impossible with current technology. By sharing a news item that interests you in the Turkish or world agenda and commenting on the subject, you can fall under the scope of a law you were unaware of and be prosecuted. In fact, if you keep a blog regularly, in colloquial terms, you are caught. There is no escape!
A quote from Wikipedia :
A blog (Turkish: ağ günlüğü, günce) or Weblog (Turkish: Ağ kütüğü) is a website similar to a diary, which can be created by people who write the things they want, in the way they want, without requiring technical knowledge.
Blogging is FINISHED with the new law. I am afraid that because social media accounts also fit the definition of news sites above, some might evaluate them under the “Press Law”. Thus, they completely ruin our cheap internet pleasure.
While writing this post, I got lost among laws, bills, and regulations, and gave up for now. But there is a wonderful post by M. Serdar Kuzuloğlu for extensive information on the subject: What does the new internet regulation take away? Save this post to evernote or pocket or something. One day all bloggers will need it.
I conclude the post with an idiom that has become popular with our people and wish you happy blogging.
Everyone goes the right way, we go the opposite.
